About Gurugram
Gurugram is a district head quarter in Haryana and the heart of the major Industrial area .Gurugram has developed into a large and flourishing town because of its proximity to New Delhi, which is about 30Kms from here. Gurugram is a city in the northern Indian state of Haryana, and is being touted as the next Singapore of India. Real estate is booming here with new buildings coming up at an astronomical pace.
The origins of the city’s name are steeped in Hindu mythology. Legend has it that Gurugram is the ancestral village of the Guru Dronacharya, the teacher of the Pandavas and Kauravas in the Hindu epic Mahabharta. Gurugram Comes from Guru ( From Guru Dronacharya) and Gram(Meaning Village).The Village was gifted by the Pandavas and Kauravas to their Guru (Dronacharya ), and was known as guru ka Gram (Village of the guru), and the later Gurugram.
Today, skyscraper and modern shopping malls dot the city, Which saw a major real estate boom in the late 1990’s and post 2000’s.
Gurugram is India’s original outsourcing destination , housing major multinationals such as HCL technologies , Daksh , eFunds, Agilent, GE, Vertex, American Express, Siemens and Convergys. Other Reputable companies such as Hitachi Metals, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, GSK, HP, Gillette, General motors, Nestle and Niksun have made Gurugram their corporate headquarters.
Thousands of professionals have recently made their home in Gurugram, buying apartments in newly constructed colonies and condominiums. The fast growing population has created a huge demand for housing and property prices have escalated in recent years. -
Sultanpur Bird sanctuary
Founded by Dr. Salim Ali is situated 16 km from Gurugram and 46 km from Delhi. During Winter birds migrate from as far as Siberia and Europe. The important species found in the park are saras, crane , spot bill, ruddy shel duck , rosy pelicans etc. over 100 species have been identified in the sanctuary.
There are hideouts, watchtowers and a museum of all sorts for those keen on a serious study. Guest suites , restaurant, family cottages, bar, hideouts, water towers and catering wings, are there for bird watchers and tourists. The best time to visit November-February. -
Sheetla Devi Temple
This famous Hindu temple is located one and half kilometers in the suburbs of Gurugram near a pond. Also referred to as a ‘shakti peeth’ , the presiding deity of this temple is Mata Sheetla devi the goddess of mall pox. It is held in great esteem throughout this part of the country. It is visited by large number of pilgrims.

Damdama Lake
Located a few kilometers south of Gurugram off Alwar road. There is an adventure resort water banks, with deluxe tents along the lake side. There is an facilities for boating and hot air ballooning.
